The Mousetrap London: What you need to know about the legendary Agatha Christie whodunit and how to find tickets

Learn all about the West End’s longest-running show and plan your Mousetrap theatre trip

Match your detective skills against the Queen of Crime, Agatha Christie, in her fiendishly plotted whodunit. The Mousetrap is a classic murder mystery with an atmospheric setting, plenty of suspicious characters, and, of course, those astonishing Christie twists and climactic reveals.
A group of strangers, including an eccentric young man, a critical older woman, a retired major and a foreign visitor, are stranded together in a remote rural guesthouse by a storm – and there is a killer on the loose. It’s up to Sergeant Trotter to find out the truth before the murderer strikes again. Or can you beat Trotter to it?

This iconic production is the world’s longest-running play and the West End’s longest-running show, with audiences still flocking to see the best crime drama in theatre – and keep its secrets. If you’re a fan of Agatha Christie’s books or the TV and film adaptations, this thrilling stage production is an absolute must-see.

“I loved every sympathy- and suspicion-shifting minute of it, as the slew of hotel guests wriggle under the stern gaze of Detective Sergeant Trotter. A standing ovation at the end, naturally.” Read the full Telegraph review.
The Mousetrap has one incredibly exciting ending, in which big secrets are brought out into the open, and someone may not be who you think they are… But we won’t say anything more than that, because the real pleasure of this show is being surprised in the moment as it all plays out.
Yes, it certainly is. The Mousetrap is a West End institution: it’s been running in London continually since 1952, with new audiences constantly discovering it. Make sure you catch it by planning your trip soon.
Definitely. It’s the quintessential whodunit, and you can’t call yourself a crime drama fan if you haven’t seen The Mousetrap. Even all these years later, it’s still bamboozling audiences thanks to Christie’s remarkable twists, and it’s become a London institution as famous as Buckingham Palace or Trafalgar Square.
The West End production of The Mousetrap is showing at St Martin’s Theatre in central London – the show’s long-time home. You can also catch The Mousetrap on tour in 2024 until early August, but for the full historic experience, the West End production is the one to book if you can.
