N.J. man charged with possessing child pornography after tip from nonprofit group

An Ocean County man was charged with possessing child pornography after an investigation based on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to the county prosecutor’s office.
Dennis Hubert, 42, of Brick Township was arrested Thursday at his home after a court-authorized search turned up several items of child pornography, authorities said.
An attorney for Hubert was not listed in court records Thursday.
The investigation into Hubert began after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about someone sending and receiving images of child pornography over the internet, officials said.
The New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force police task force then referred the information to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit and identified an IP address at a Brick Township home that was used to view child pornography on the internet, officials said.
Authorities said the investigation identified Hubert as the person accessing the images online. Then, a search of Hubert’s home on Thursday along with an initial forensic search of his electronic devices turned up several pieces of child pornography, officials said.
No further details on the investigation and potential evidence found at Hubert’s home was released by authorities Thursday.
Hubert is being held at the Ocean County jail pending a detention hearing.
